Was chatting to a good friend the other day about various things and we got talking about 0-60 times on paper and actual on road times..

Now most of the specs flaunted around for the willy was 0-60 in 7.6 - 7.7 secs....

Do people agree / disagree with this? do you think a standard willys time is quicker than that? I personally think its a touch quicker than that or certainly feels like it but I'd be interested to hear what others think or if they have timed it properly and the results they got...

(and no ITB'd stripped f7r slags do not count as standard! )

IMHO, the need to shift up to third gear to hit 60mph slows the on-paper timing. Also, the lightness of the car and its close-ratio transmission makes it perform better at low to medium speeds than most cars with same on-paper timing.

thought willy was 7.2 as it can get 60 in second with the jc5 and valver was 7.7 as less power and have to snatch 3rd for a bit of 60+ action?

I could hit just over 60 in 2nd gear on mine with a JB3/F7P, but I did have a raised rev limit which would have made the difference.

stock williams (185 55 tyres, 6500rpm limiter, jc5 014 gearbox) should do 59mph (gps) in 2nd gear

stock valver (185 55 tyres, 7000rpm limiter, jb3 048 gearbox) should do 62mph (gps) in 2nd gear

some valvers come with a jb3 053 box, which means they will only do 58 in second - not sure if this is a phase thing, but both my ph1 valvers originally came with 048 boxes (according to renault). Maybe it was done as the ph2 was slightly heavier?

probably then as am fairly sure my box that i killed was the 053 box, and it definatly had to snatch 3rd to hit 60 on std limiter

low 7's is more realistic for a completely standard car imo.

I guess I'm a cheat as I say standard but I've still got a raised limiter so I can hit 60 in second - must be capable of low 7's to 60, feels so much quicker than other mid 7 sec cars I've driven

Its all about the 0-100

exactly!! 0-60 is for saxo vtr/fiesta xr2 owners where it takes them about 2year to crack 100 lol

The most recent traffic light drag I had was with a Chrysler 300 whose listed 0-60 time is 7.5 seconds so I would say that was about the right time for the Willy too....

had mine timed at the pgti brunters thrash a few years ago. unfortunately i only got 1 timed run. comapred to most having 3.

but 0-60 was 7.01, the car had evrything std except de-cat n cat back. no raised limiter, no cams, was on 185 hx's , spare wheel in etc.

think it was 5.633 at york with the cams etc. thats iirc, i have the slip somewhere lol
