Been an age since i have posted pictures on here. This is how it was before it came of the road for a Williams engine and track conversion

How much wider is the willy track going to make it?

Assume your putting the willy subframe on so you can keep the 16v radiator?

40mm-ish iirc :twisted:

A clio subframe won't fit a 5, as they mont differently at the front of the car and it also lacks the extra front gearbox mount in the subframe

The 5 subframe has a few different holes in the radiator tray... so hoping the Williams rad will drop right in... if not i can make holes :wink:

Nope, GTT rad cradle is too small for the willy item. :(

I'd really try to use the willy subframe though as i'm not sure the GTT item will give the correct width for when the willy driveshafts/wishbones/hubs bolt on. It should fit as Chris H went the other...i.e. GTT onto Clio shell...way when doing my extra (same subframe/mounts as a clio);

http://www.retro-renault.com/forums/renault-1997-present-day/2776-renault-extra.html?garpg=3

By the looks of it you'd just need to drill a new offside mounting hole 15mm behind the existing one then it'd bolt straight on with willy engine in on GTX/GTT mounts. 16v rad would then go in too.

Saying that you'll probably have measured all this up lol

40mm will look evil btw! 8)

Actually thinking about it now they must be the same width because with mine;

GTT Subframe + GTT Wishbones combined width = Extra (Clio) subframe + GTT wishbones combined width.

If theres any difference between clio and GTT track it must be the wishbones that do it.

Also my reference about the GTT cradle being to small for the willy rad may not be 100% as we were trying to get the diesel radiatior on. I thought these are the same size as 16v ones but maybe not, they may be smaller and therefore would fit.

Going to be a beast at any rate!

I've widetracked an R5 using 16v bits, you'd need adjustable camber shocks or bolts to get willy track on there.

We used a combination on phase 1 top mounts and phase 2 shocks (R5 GTT) and 16v wishbones, ARB, shafts etc etc

Rear beam goes on too.

need a bit of that to fit a willy engine

I read into most your posts on RTOC about it iirc.... wondered why more folk had not done it on there 5's

Think i would get away with slotting the shock?

Cheeers

Yeah would have thought so, if you've ever seen a williams with 16v shocks - that's how much camber you'd need to lose.

with 5s theres always a bit about them that puts me off but that one looks jus right- wheels, intercooler ect suit it perfectly!
