how do people normally use it? Do u sand the rust away first?

the best thing to use mate is ask a windscreen fitter for there primer they use on the appture.. stops rust.. i could send u some if u pay for postage/

Yeah sand away or use the wire wheel in a drill trick.
Then apply it till the surface is black.
Then its apparently treated lol.

Another good rust killer is vinegar, just make sure you wash it off afterwards.

I use vactan, its a MOD grade rust treatment, the navy use it on their boats.
