Hello,

My alternator went yesterday, argh! What's the deal with these? Are they a real bugger to change? how much should I expect to pay for labour and parts on this prob? The AA guy reckoned it would be a lot.

Cheers

Gregg

It's not that difficult to do yourself, remove the headlight and there's enough room to work, 2 bolts, a plug and the belt to remove then out it comes.

My garage I use charged me 1 1/2 hours labour to change my power steering pump. You have to remove the alternator to get to it so they should only charge you an hours labour tops

My new alternator cost me about £110 and took my mechanic about 3 hours to fit i think (including alternator belt)

If your good with cars i would try it yourself, if not, leave it to experts, lol.

Not that hard to do yourself just a bit fiddly. There's a handy guide in the guide section if you're a member :p
