had a cable snap, replaced cable but the garage ordered a new ratchet.
this didnt fit, so they ordered a new pedal too.

problem is now the clutch "squeaks" and once in 20 or so clicks.

is this because the ratchet holes are different to the original pedal or is this simply a routing / re-ratchet issue?

it occasionally is hard to get it into first.
new clutch fitted 20k ago.
new mounts and gearbox mounts 5k ago.

its going for a re-ratchet tonight. any other ideas ?

cheers

is it def the clutch squeaking or is it the pedal mech as the click you mention makes me think its the pedal ratchet is the cable routed over the ratchet quadrant correctly had a right game when i fitted mine :)

update.

clutch re-ratched up and now fine.

garage says clutch is heavy which will in turn snap cable and ratchet mechanism. chap said that it should be much softer?!?

it feels like it should, and its been ok for 20k (until now). im not putting a lighter clutch in just because he says so... or should i ????

did they ever make a group n clutch pedal? and a group n/stronger clutch cable???

new clutch. original renault clutch. previous guy fitted a factory refurb which isnt recommended or certainly not by me.

now slips in and out of gear like a cosy date with a student nurse.

the refurbed factory clutch which had only done about 24k was shite. didnt have a uniform wear on it, was all on one side.

i asked if this was a fitting problem, but the guy said that it was not and it was definately the clutch.

managed to get the brand new clutch and fitting for 425 all in, which i think was good business.

the wife doesnt think it was.

should not wear unevenly though ,may be thats
where the problem is  i am no expert on
gearboxes etc but have you had the flywheel checked
before getting the clutch fitted ?

all checked out. 100% it was the clutch and the clutch alone.
