i have replaced my big ends thrust washers and main bearings and fitted a new oil pump but my oil gauge still goes to zero when hot at idle.i replaced the pressure gauge sensor but still the same.does any1 know is it possible to lose pressure at the hydraulic tappet ajustters.

Both my Willy and Valver start off about 2 BAR, and drop to 0 on hot idle without any negative side effects.

What type of oil do you use? Mine did this when using Shell Helix 10w-40 semi, sat at zero pressure when hot at idle, but now sits just below 1 bar pressure using Helix Ultra 5w-40

is it reactive... I mean does it climb when you add some revs?

If so, it's fine. If not, you should've measured the clearances in the oil pump ;)

its on duchams 10w 40 semi.it just the turbo had bearing failure and now the second hand one i fitted seems to be starting to smoke abit and theres more play in its shaft now than what there was when fitted a month ago.the oil pump i fitted was new from renault.

did you check the bearing clearance when you fitted the new bearings

no i didnt check them, the old ones were 0.25,when i took them out there didnt look to be much wear on them but i put new ones in anyway.when cold if its reved it will go up as far as 5 and a half bar when hot at revs its about half a bar.im running it without an oil cooler, would one help?

Damn, I must have a really good oil pump then (or a buggered sender) as I see 5.5Bar at cold start and if I drive off the guage nearly hits the roof!
