OK, seen a few of these on Ebay. As one of my bulbs have gone, I have decided to change the lot from ornage to blue as my car is white.

Are they just twist in jobs, or soldered on?

Also, is there any films to cut/replace, or is it just a case of changing bulbs?

Lastly, anyone done this and got pics??

Cheers guys

i've done this before..

the bulbs are just twist in ones, i bought mine from ebay years ago!

you have to remove faces and sand down the back of them (to remove orange colour filter)..

you will also need to remove each needle and sand the back of them down. (phase 1's have orange needles, phase 2 have white needles)

this is a pic of mine -

So, is the clockset easy enough to remove? Speedo cable and that

the clockset is very easy to remove.. doing all the bits is tricky, personally i'd buy a spare set and do it on them incase you break it!

t509's i think the bulbs are, some of the valver ones come with clear plastic as i have a spare one and the backing pastic parts are clear and not orange as on my williams

What do u mean all this sanding business could that be anything to do with why my garage could not get mine to work???

that could be the case with phase 2 dials, my phase 1's had the orange bit!

if you take the speedo face out, and shine a lot behind it you'll see it has an orange filter, the orange filter needs to be sanded down to make it 'clear' so it'll show the blue bulbs.

hmm if you put blue bulbs behind an orange filter you will get no light....

As you are putting blue through orange and thus blocking it out...
so to still be orange you would need either orange bulbs or white light.

All my bulbs were changed to blue and it still lights up orange, I'm assuming because of the orange filter. Gonna get a set of spare dials and take them apart n see how the orange is taken off then do it to my own.

aye it could be the ph2 ones which are clear, i know the valver ones i have are clear but both of my williams ones are orange, one is a williams 1 and the other is a williams 2.

I want blue dials and red needles!

But you can't just do the dash, you'll have to do the heater dials, the clock, the oil dials... lol

Allan

all very easy to get out, but the heater ones you need to remove the bottom panel which is easy and then there is just 2 screws and iirc only 1 bulb and 1 for the clock which is just a push fit job

That actually sounds quite easy...

re: the needles, are there separate bulbs for them? So you could have them different colours? Or would you have to paint them?
