Dont get me wrong but the phase 2 wheels arn't that bad but they just look dated, so i managed to get hold of a set of 172 cup wheels for ebay. They were curbed to buggary and the tyres were bald, so i got them referbished at JP Polishing at Canvey island essex for £170.00 and considering there powdercoated and the condition i thought that was a good price. After 3 months in the shed i managed to save up for a set of Goodyear Eagle F1's 195/45/16R. Well chuffed with the outcome.

I think the standard 172 cup springs might fit and lower it by around 15 mm

You know it
Cup springs only lower it about 10mm at the most i would say. Stiffens the front end right up though 8)

Now that looks like the dog dangly bits, was that decked with coilovers or lowering springs?
I'm gonna be a party pooper now and say you should have gone for 15's - 16's look too big for these cars imo :eekout:
i agree 16s just look a tiny bit to big for the car. but they still look nice tho.

yeah i know what you mean, but its a matter of whats out there at the time, in regards to lowering i think i will leave it at the moment as there is noting but speed bumps around my area.

Lowering for daily drive clio = Crap.
Lowering on springs for daily drive clio = Even worse.
Widetrack = Way Forward (a mod which returns big grin factor for the driver)
172 Cup springs lower 3-5mm (at least thats what I found in my searches) and they are 10% or 20% stiffer.
Rolling Diameter from 16's with 40 profiles IIRC isnt too far off 15's with 185/50's. Although they must amplify every bump.
