FAO Gti-6/Rallye owners

just done the cambelt/waterpump/tensioners on my mates rallye (bloody hell what a job :shock: )

anyway...

after torqueing up everything correctly we refitted the cambelt cover.
something seems to be catching the cover and making a rubbing noise. had it back off and its deffo not the cambelt catching it, and its not the aux belt :?

any ideas what it could be?

I've had a bit of experience with the XU9J4 lumps (which I think is similar to what is in the GTI6?) from my old race car (oil starvation issues meant I got through 4 engines in as many years!) but can't think of anything obvious it could be. Any sign of rubbing marks on the inside of the covers?

nope there was a slight one on the outside of the cover from the aux belt as we didnt clip the cover in right at the bottom, but after sorting that its still there :?
