Got a Mk1 Ph3 1997 1.4 S ( maxim ) sitting here.
It had a snapped passenger side drive shaft so changed that.
i then started the engine to make sure it was all on there and strong it started and run just fine but i then noticed the Engine mount ( battery one)
was snapped
so i changed that And then the car turns over starts and then cuts out after 1sec.

Can't think what the problam is.

petrol in it?
fuel to the injectors?

immobiliser off?

£20 Petrol
Fuel Pump is working.
Fuels getting to the injectors
Spark fine on all 4 plugs
immobiliser (is confusing me )
Did try an ECU with out an immobiliser tho.
Checked for air leaks every where i could around the inlet didnt feel none.

Also Changed all HT Leads and a the Dizzie cap.

Checked the King Ht lead.

also Run a jumper cable to the Earth on the battery to the body earth.

Hmm, I don't know then.

That's me all out of ideas LoL

Does the 1.4 have an ISCV like valvers/williams do?

sounds like immobiliser still!
you sure the ecu you tried was one
without immobiliser?

ph3 ecus are hard to decode and most arent able to have immobiliser removed.

is plip?(if fitted) working and unlocking the doors?

if so what does the light do when plip pressed?

if non plip you need to check that injectors are being fed 12v whilst cranking over for more than 5 seconds. if they feed then stop after 5 seconds immobiliser is still active.

will car rev up or stay running if you hold throttle? if so then its more than likely an air leak. with engine mount having dropped off could of pulled/split pipes etc.
