OOPs  .On there site you will see examples of a new process, where they get a chrome ~~ like finish ~~ Very hard to tell apart ~~ not cheap ~ but cheaper than chroming and more durable.

The Irish car whats the plan for this then....?

Hi Steve (Evogone)
It is for sale or will be,Using a lot of bits 'n' pieces I have ammassed over the years, just a case of renovate, clean ~~ fit new where required.

It is a well stong shell, fully welded and caged up.
The subfame and bits are for it,note it has a Gp"A" copy rear box mount, plus all the R19 front mounts ~~ new bearings in the hubs, which will have studs in (not the bolts)new Williams bottom arms, new Williams struts (ATM),1.8 valver engine with a ported head and new bearings, special chip and Green filter induction kit,Sachs Clutch,JB5 rebuilt box,New discs, overhauled calipers, new rear discs, fully areroquipped, throughout, with a brake bias set up in it.
New seats/belts/extinguishers,plenty of carbon fibre ~~ I have a lot left from the other one.
Fully renovated Turbine wheels, powder coated white,on decent 15" rubber.
It already has an MSA logbook, and will have 12mths MOT.

A nice little toy for a beginner or track day,If a Willy engine comes by at the right price ????

i know its a bit more boring that powdercoating but im looking into having some parts galvanised,
namely wishbones, ARB, and a few other steel bits.
that way theyll never rust. anyone else ever bothered with this?

cliorod
10-07-2008, 07:10
Doug,
I am not so sure that Galvanising will prevent rusting ~~ especially where road salt is likely to get to.I may be wrong on that, but I have seen Galvanised structures rusting through
Not trying to Patronise but do mean Galvanising or the Gold Pacifate ~~ as per the uprights in the pictures, this is a more resitant procedure to oxidisation.

its ok rod, yeah i meant galvanising, like the steel fencing you see round industrial estates, i thought it was quite rust resistant,
but i was also wondering the name of the other procedure you mentioned,
what sort of place does this and is it expensive? id be interested in getting that done

cliorod
12-07-2008, 00:48
Hi Doug ~ No Problem ~~ Galvanising has a limited life in a "normal" atmosphere, but with road salt etc etc ~~ it would not be good.
The gold "pacifate" as it is called now ~~When I worra lad ~ It was nickel plate is not cheap,I got the hubs done ~~ bearings out ~ so 4 pieces and it was £90 ~~ they have to rough polish ??.to remove as much sh*t from the casting and then dip etc ~~ Any chrome platers can do this.
TBH,~~Powder coating is the toughest, quickest and cheapest option,The whole lot you saw in the picture was under £90.
Talking with the guy,it is baked on at 270 degrees !!!!,Once on,it has to be stripped off chemically, really hard wearing.I am so impressed by it,I have another set of hubs,I am going to split and get done, plus caliper brackets and caliipers.
For the chemical coatings, zinc, chrome etc Anodising on alloy,if the surface finish is smooth ~ ie a machined finish,as opposed to a rough cast finish, then I would go with the chroming or anodising. You are welcome to come and look at the parts anytime ~~ and my guy has a rake of colours
