Just been thinking, what cars did you all lust after as impressionable school boys/girls that were actually achievable not the obvious Ferraris, Aston Martins etc.
As I came into Williams ownership by default having bought mine off daughter Lucy, who was struggling to run/insure it so I bought it from her to sort it out and resell it. That was two and a half years ago and I am still driving it on a daily basis and love it to bits but I am one of the older members on here and was in my late forties when the Williams was introduced.
My era included MGB, TR2&3, Jag Mk 2 and obviously E Type, which was introduced in 1961 and seemed like it was from outer space but somehow possible to own as it cost less than £2,000 new.

always been cosworths, i'm a ford man myself and anything rs are my dream cars. only had sierra cossies, rs turbo's and rs 2000's but lust after a scort cossie.....but love my clio's as well...... :D ultimate dream car would be a rs 200 but as much chance of winning lottery as ever owning one......

When I was a wee lad back in the 80's, I always lusted after a Pug 205 T16 thanks to those crazy Group B rally days!

I always wanted an Escort RS Turbo after seeing one pull out to overtake and literally seeing it accelerate instead of just coasting by like most cars do. Think I must have been young (14-15) at the time but I remember it!

Got one, loved it, it died, I want another one :( despite the fact the valver is an infinitely better car to drive! lol

but those big old t3's sound amazing. they really whistle and boom as they go by. chavs gave..well. they gave all good cars a bad name didnt they. even the williams is tainted a little from their generally baffoonery. fast fords? ruined for eternity by them. cept the ones 19 yr chav ites cant afford, like the escort cossie. :)

love the old school audi quattro's, i'd adore one of those and the chav in me still lusts after a nissan r33 gtr v-spec, gran turismo to thank for that! and similarly my boyhood involved lots of model cars, and when i was abut 8 my nan bought me a drop top e-type jaguar in british racing green, if i could own one of those one day that would be spectacular also.

Audi Quattro, Renault 5 Turbo, Lancer 2000 Turbo, Lotus Esprit Turbo, Alfasud, Fiat 131 Racing and Golf GTI 1.8L 8V. I am sure I have missed out quite a few others.

for me the williams was on the - i wud like to own one at some point list - one to go on the cv. but i dont think i ever reeeeeally reeeally wanted one. i always looked up to it but i dont think i lusted after it because i never saw it as a hooligans car, which when ur a kid i think u perhaps look to a bit. mor e a grown ups hot hatch, where as the 5 turbo was mental and as a kid i remember thinking wow! where as williams more a knowing respectful nod.
