Williams 2 or 3?

Hi,

I'm new around here...looking to get my first Williams, but I'm having trouble deciding what to get!

Williams 2 or Williams 3?

I know it's my decision at the end of the day, but if you had the choice, which would you get and why? Are all the extras on the 3 worth it?

Willy 3, best compromise between daily driver and track slag.... all the mod cons but without much detriment to performance....

I wish they made the Willy 3 in the same colour as Willies 1 and 2. For some reason I'm swaying towards the 2 just because of the colour? Am I mad?!

I'm in the same boat, myself - I've been looking at 2's & 3's, too. (The 1's seem to fetch a bit of a premium over the other two - Because they're numbered, I guess??).

I've seen some 2's with a S/R & some without - I think it must've been an option on them. However, I believe S/R's were std on 3's IIRC (As was ABS). I'm personally going to go for a 2 (unless a bargain 1 comes along) as there's less to go wrong than a 3 & they don't seem to be rot as much as the 3's, either.

ps I'm in agreement that the darker blue of the first two W's looks better. :wink:

Thanks for the replies guys. Would love a Willy 1, but I don't think I stretch to the premium most are after.

I like the extra features such as front speakers, etc on the Willy 3 plus other mod cons, but I'm not sure about the colour...

Finding a decent Willy 2 has been hard for me to come by so far...

I think the best idea is to buy the one in the best condition irrespective of number.

Its easy enough to fit door speakers in a willy 2 mate, get different door cards if you dont want to butcher the standard ones.

Williams 1 is probably the one to have, but the 2+3 look that bit better due to the face lift imo

I'm intrigued Mr P, are you suggesting that you have a ride for sale..? I like having the speakers at the front (and the rear), but I don't really wanna mod out a Williams...I like them standard just how they are. But maybe changing the door cards will be the way forward. Any idea on cost to do?

Willy 3's are rarer tho :wink: although I agree a willy 1 is the one to the one to have, I prefer the phase 2 grills look better imo 8) but then again, like what was just said, by the condition willy you can find/afford![/list]

Check for rot - for some reason the Willy 3 seems to rust more than the 1's or 2's.... as people say, find the best car, irespective of number, that your budget will allow for!

dont think that is true???? they all rot. must admit my arches are going(but there being done later this year), bonnet is being sprayed first, at end of the month.

dont think there is a premium on the williams compared with the 2 and 3 had mine up for sale on here for 2k just no takers think at moment people are being careful with there cash as for which rots quite interesting was chatting to richy today he mentioned the williams 3 he's just broken bein less solid than his track car which is older so does make you wonder were compromises made on later williams models or are they all equally prone to the dreaded tin worm

Bout 30 quid and a few hours work (when I could be arsed!)

You could call mine 2.5 now but after I regress to ph1 side strips I'll (kind of) restore it to a 2 :shock: :lol:
