Well the 5 days of Clio owner ship so far has been a little up and down. The car is a cracking drive i think it's a quicker B road car than my 300bhp+ Focus ST, maybe the F it factor could play a part but still i'm ver impressed.

All was going well untill it decided it didnt like it's power sterring fluid and decided to spill it all over the road / driveway etc. The pipe has slplit that leads off from the reseviour (the connection towards the front of the engine) and down into the depths of the engine bay.

Renault have quoted me around £41 to get a replacment hose. Question is how easy or not is it it to fit, can i do this myself as i have an average grasp of mechanic's or is it something that need's specialist attention?

Any tips or guides would be greatly recived. :D

Thanks

Do you mean the metal pipe that goes behind the alternator?

It's a bitch to do, sorry LoL

I did mine though, and I'm a mechanical imbecile

It went something like:

Speak to MatBrown for the part
Get to Halfords to get the 150 piece toolkit (which should cover all eventualities lol) and a medium sized set of molegrips for the bastard coolant hose clamps
Get to renault for the O-ring for the new pipe
Get it on axle stands
Bonnet off
Slam panel off
Drivers' side Headlight out
Drain coolant
Stupid plastic rad surround off
Rad off (take the time to flush it through properly while it's off)
Fan off
Alternator off (using the push it back and slip the belt off bodge-job lol)
Replace pipe
Test it doesn't leak
Reverse the process

It's a proper pain in the arse but could be done in 3 hours I reckon - if you had all the tools, the space, the confidence, and knew your way round the engine bay...

Mine took me a couple of weekends poking around and taking things slowly  but having done it once I'm less scared of getting things off to fix things now :)

Yep that's the one matey, it's not the metal one. According to the diagram i got offf this very site it goes to the pump.

When I was checking mine out (it was fine) and doing engine work, I had the bonnet off, slam panel and radiator out, and obviously drained of coolant. Took drivers headlight out too, plus my inlet manifold was off....

Doubt you need all that lot off though lol.

Cracking work, would you say that their would be much difference between the 16v and the Williams as my newly purchased but yet to arrive Haynes manual.

Well a school boy error took place, took the pipe off with just the headlight, bonnet and alternator un-connected (not removed) only to find that it wasnt that pipe its the bloody metal one, so got my hands on one of them so it shall be going shortly.

Have fun! lol

Don't forget the O-ring you need for it - part number is in my thread I posted when I did the same metal pipe: http://www.williamsclio.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=23225&highlight=
