Ok, bought car, tested it a bit with a few high rpm gear changes...it just kept pulling at 7500 rpm...

HG failed as most of you know, and ECU got wet and blew while fixing HG.

Thought I may not be able to rev so high anymore...it's still the same. It just keeps pulling. I've not gone REALLY high but I dont wanna blow it up...and it's rare I test it this hard.

It feels very quick at high revs, seems faster than the new one I had by a margin...

Is this normal?

Yeh it shouldnt go any higher than 7.1k if its a standard chip? :?

Well, I dont like making it scream, but I'll give it another proper test soon...it could be two aftermarket ECU's by sheer fluke but I looked at both of them and neither was obviously soldered in...

Quoting midge here, but ive read it elsewhere too, people take F7P's to 9k on standard parts lol in bursts, you'll be fine to experiment where it limits..

Really never hear so much rubish, engine has a really long stroke which is not the best for a high revving engine.

The rally cars limit is 8k but wouldnt want to take it there other than the odd 1st gear blip.

I've found that if I'm on track and doing massive blip downchanges I can get it to go past 7100 or 7200 rpm rather than hitting the limiter! Weird lol

Yea, that's where you are forcing the engine to do so with big downshifts though. I've had that before in other cars.

Hmm, well as I said I'll give this a further testing. I rarely ever rag the car like that as I am scared it's going to blow up but recently I've been putting it through it's paces to test my workmanship :)

Gotta say, it's quick! Had faster, but it's a fun little car and it's great to have it back on the road and such a hoot to drive :)

Maybe I am misreading thr revs in my rush to change gear lol.

I have a Powerchip eprom with 8100rpm rew limit.
Usually I go till 7500rpm, without problem, still nice sound.
(I have a lightened flywheel, if it matters)
8000rpm is also not a problem, but actually no power remains there :)))

Possibly just that the rev counter is a bit out? It would seem a bit weird that it would rev so high on two different ECUs so I would have guessed at it being an inacuracy in the rev counter. On the clocks I have on the hybrid they read a little under the actual figure.

It's possible I guess.

Ok, tested it...must have just been my eyes...it hits redline just over 7k. First time I've hit it today when doing a test drive

I had my old 1.8 engine to an indicated 9k, went from 4th to 3rd instead of 5th.... it lived, think clutch plates shattering at high revs when hitting the limiter can be a rather bad thing too

Well, I've hit the limiter twice since posting this so all seems to be normal, except my eyesight.
