Just read through the manual and it tells you to remove the downpipe,
is this necessary :?:  or is there an easier way. :D

Any help would be great, thanks.

you dont have to remove the downpipe iirc. but then again i've not owned a renault for over a year now so i'm bound to forget a few things but iirc no mate :)

if its a williams starter motor and downpipe then no you can do it without removing it, just need to get the bracket off behind the starter then slide it out carefully

it's tricky at first, but easily done, manifold doesn't have to come off.

did you take it from underneath the car? any tips?

is it just the 3 bolts and the wires?

When you say bracket where do you mean?

also its a supersprint manifold ive got?

if you've got a supersprint manifold, it'll be even easier..

put your hand between the manifold and the starter and work with a spanner..

cool ill have another look, when the 3 bolts are off did you take the starter out from the underneath or out the top?

Also whats the braket on the end of it?

if you look at the starter motor at the end furtherest from the gearbox there should be a bracket bolted to the back of the starter and to the engine/small heatsheild, you need to remove that, iirc theres 3x 13mm headed bolts holding that on to the engine, and 2x 10mm headed bolts holding the heatsheild and usually 2x 8mm nuts holding onto the back of the starter.

its off!!

I removed the manifold heatshield and that seemed to open up alot of space.

just got to get it refurbished then i can TRY and refit,

thanks for your help 8)
