just bought 6 litres of the best oil i have ever used.

10 40 halfords mineral oil :-| lool

no tappet noises or high temps with this ! lol strange.............but true.

Just changed my oil & filter today...

But i'm not sure that the filter is on tight enough :? have been keeping an eye on the sump and there is a trace of oil on it after a little drive.

I tightened it by hand, but obviously because of where it is, i didn't have a very good grip :?

Is this OK?

btw - i used helfrauds 10/40 semi, and it seems fine :)

My tappets went with 10w 40 mineral oil too. Again, strange but true.

A little bit of oil is definitely seeping from the filter - shall i tighten the b*stard up with a filter wrench - or will it never come off again :?

THe seal is probably pinched rather than it not being tight enough.

Do i need to get the filter off again in that case?! it's a helfrauds one with a nut on the end - so i was going to put half a turn on it to get it tighter :?

Id unscrew it slightly then on again to see if that works first.

I think halfords is really good for oil to.

5 litres of 10 40 semi synth is 11 quid at the mo.

RESULT!!!!

Using Shell Helix, 10W40, would ahve prefered 15W50, but 10W40 was all they had

Well i just got me some tescos value 10w 40 so lets see how that fairs :)
going to change it thursday i think and then take it for a nice long drive to exeter and see how it does :)

running the renault elf stuff atm it seems ok no problems with it and the car is smooth

was er 5.98 for 4L
used to be 4.98 for 5L but they have changed it ;(

still cheep enough to test, for 12 quid even if i just run it for 1k to test :)

Could be useful to flush the engine for 500 miles with.
