mk1 golf resto thread

as most of you know ive just picked myself up a 1986 mk1 golf cabriolet

with it being 22 years old it needs a wee bit of attention in some places and so i started today :)

sods law it rained too lol

1stly the boot floor looked a little worse for wear, not rotten but a bit brown looking
so emptied it out gave it a scrub down and dried it

then some good old hammerite.. the colour is not at all what the lable was lol, o well no one will see it haha

love mk1's too the only proper golf they made, unfortunately i hate the cabriolets its gotta be a hard top for me.
mk1's are really expensive too i wanted one as a second car but couldnt justify the money for a good one

for the look mate, follows the lines of the arches out to rims wider than the arches, if you ran tyres same width as rims with that offset it'd look rediculous stickin out the arches

Ronals look 8) on mk1 golfs, I'd get a set of these on it, there's a white GTI by me and the wheels make the car for me

well i decided to paint the side strips to match the roof, worst idea ever, luckly i only did one so i only had one to strip back,
then went with silver vynal, really impressed
