Im looking at replacing my gearbox soon, as 3rd is becomming a problem. (syncro is nackered!)

Im looking for some advice on which renault gearbox (jb or jc) would be best suited as a close ratio box keeping the standard internals. Looking for something with short ratios or something with a larger final drive ratio giving me less road speed per engine rev. Basically i dont care after 100mph, maybe 120mph tops, but getting there is important.

I know it will have to be something from a pre 98 clio, possibly a jb1, but not really sure after that.

Whats the story on diesel box's and those outa kango's and stuff?

I was hitting 105 down the back straight in my RSi at Donnington, i believe some if the williams boys were hitting higher speeds, staying in 4th till 110/120 would be a good bonus

I wrote a Renault gearbox program for Hungarian Renault Club formerly.
Download, install and enjoy :)

Although it's Hungarian, but I think you will be able to use it. I hope my program will help you to chose the correct gearbox with correct ratio.
