But a standard exhaust for the 16v the other week and it's just arrived

just after some opinions of it really...

It's not sitting *quite* straight as one of my rubber hangers has perished and I need a new one. How close to the bumper should it fit? also should it stick out a little or not?

the 16v seems to share the same part with the williams exhaust, how close to the Renault Item is it?

When driving its wierd, my other clio has a straight through and a magnex so its fairly loud.. with this one (coupled with stock suspension and 185 55 tyres) it's so quite I had to check a few times when sitting at junctions if it had stalled!

When you give it some beans, all you can really hear is the induction noise - running a standard airbox with the inlet pipe removed and an ITG filter for some noise! :D

Just thought I'd give my experience with trying a standard exhaust

loosen the joint closest to the back a little and twist the exhaust round a bit, thats what i had to do with mine,

i got the pattern part it is a bit of a bitch to fit properly, but i just lined everything up, kept it all loose and pulled and twisted it about until i was happy then tightened it all up!

also, that trim at the end can be prone to falling off! check the one you have is welded on nicely!

is the exhaust from Renault or the Walker version? How easy was it to fit?

Matty86

its not Renault, no... I *think* it was a walker item

http://www.onlineautomotive.co.uk/images/admin/parts/exhaust_parts/768978.png

Rear Silencer Ref: RN653Q-OL
Renault Clio 1.8i Cat. 16v. Hatchback. 1764cc F7P 95HP Engine. 11/1991-05/1996

same part for the williams.

Normally I hate exhausts, but it was dead easy to fit. Jacked up the car by the rear jacking point and removed the rear wheel. then placed an axle stand where the shock bolts to the hub - gives plenty of room and visibility :)

it doesn't come with the elbow joint btw

Be careful if the rear bit is touching the bumper, when my exhaust was mounted bit funny it melted a hole through mine :(

nice, ive got a new centre section and new rear section and a stainless elbow, so its all in good nick apart from the cat

it was about £50-60 I think, delivered - I fitted it myself

been meaning to update, i've since refitted it and its nice and straight now.. only issue i have is that it knocks occasionally on the dogbone bolts... I might cut them down as I don't really want to fit them in the standard renault way :(

Once lined up it'll look spot on matey. Like the standard look. I think more road going versions of cars now getting rarer should look oem, or at least as close...............can only help the value ascend over time when lined up against modified metal in the classifieds.

yes best way imo is whenever you upgrade a part, keep the standard origional part (unless its fudged). then when sale time comes, put it back to standard and sell the ugrade parts seperate

sorry to drag this up again but yours sticks out far more than my renault one does - mine sits flat and high up and doesn't come out of the bumper at all - infact its impossible to get it too as its sat perfectly!! :?

mine sticks out a little.. maybe it's because i've not put it fully onto the elbow joint? it wasnt going on any more though, so it's staying as it is!

Well **** it lol I've had a look and theres no where at all where it could be made to move out more, I could drop it a tad on the final mount so its lower and would come out a bit more but then it would look too low.
