Wiring Knackered!! HELP PLEASE!!!

What would cause all the following when the ignition is on:

Main beam lighs up heated rear screen when flashing.
Main Beam symbol is allways illuminated
Temp Gauge allways full
When you put heated rear screen on the rev counter goes to nothing
When indicator is on rev needle dips up and down to the indicator tone LOL

Basically, what ****s up all the dials. Everything works but the symbols light up the wrong way around. We have looked at a wiring diagram all night and cant find anything which helps.

Bad earth maybe? OR is it something very obvious?

that wasnt a stupid question, similar things happen if u connect the battery in reverse....

Sounds like normal french wiring to me. Is that a problem then? :lol:
