Right, The avo's are on... and was set pretty low... now we have tried to make them higher (winding the platform upwards) and they havent done anything... they are staying at the same height. The platform is near the top of the thread and right height is slammed.

What on earth have I done wrong???

:x

surely winding the platform up will make it lower? winding down makes the spring longer and hence more height to the car?

no winding the platform form up will higher the car...

What length springs did they supply you with?

Do you have to lower/higher both sides equally?

Only thing is that with the polybushes the ARB is VERY tight. Im wondering if this is restricting it?

:?

The springs were standard size I think.

no winding the platform form up will higher the car...

ok fair enough (never had coilovers so was a guess anyway  )

Thats about right for std Avo springs, thats about what mine is set to

it will depend on the springs, think about it, as you move the platform the springs will compress and in theory transfer this energy into raising the car. if the springs aren't too good or highly rated, the weight of the engine and the car itself will simply fight against this and compress the springs more and reduce suspension travel rather than affect the ride height, get the appropriately rated springs for the application.

The thing is though that the inner part of the shock (the actual damper element) should be able to move pretty easily up or down. The spring should always be the same height when under the load of the car, the height is therefor controlled by the position of the damper relative to the spring instead if you know what I mean. So if you move the "platform" upwards this will cause the spring to push the damper down relative to the spring and hence raise the car, so really the height of the car shouldn't be affected by the level of compression the spring undergoes as its compressed length will always be the same regardless of the platform position. Thats all based on the the way I understand the setup to work anyway but I've never really dealt with coilovers so I may have got something wrong.

I should say that I suppose that would be assuming that you are not already compressing the spring beyond its compressed length under the cars weight, in which case drsmith would be right and you would need other springs.

Actually having read what I have written its kind of hard to follow  , probably best to ignore it

no mate sounds fine...

as long as the shock tube will go higher the car will go higher up until its max height is reached. looks like a compromise as the next standard length in 10" i believe these looking like 8".

but you need to measure them and find the ratings...

Lunner

Think it is 10", i ordered stuffer one an inch/couple of inches longer for mine, still to fit them though

MAXIBOY

mine are 8" on the leda's

that top mount shouldnt sit so high....have u all the washers on in the right place ???

MAXIBOY

or worn bearings or top mounts...

i remember with gaztwo avos he had that problem and we swapped the washers around and the top mount fitted correctly

finally managed to fix the issue. In the end I think(?) it was because my polyflex bushes are so stiff (not even been driven on yet) they were holding the arb in place. We jacked the other side of the car up and changed the height accordingly... sits okay now :)

I thought it sat a little too high, how did he change them around, I followed the diagram and it ended up like this. Hmmm
