Hi - I've started to get tapping noise from the engine when cold or when the car hasn't been used for a while - I've listended closely to the engine and it's at the top of the block - is it tappets or something more serious?

All fluids are present and correct....

Any thoughts?

if u were 2 by them new then yeh they arnt cheep.

can be got for around 60/70 of ebay but fitting is time consuming..

what sort of timescale involved to fit them? You can get the parts for about £60 off fleabay...

what will happen if I don't get them done? The engine sounds fine once it has warmed up and the fluids are fully moving around....

dont need new ones as you can take the old ones apart and clean them. It is a long winded process but if it needs to be done then its not worth ignoring. Try some good engine flush first and an oil/filter change see if that improves it
