Window Tint?

My m8 got stoped 2day by the police n they gave him 3 points and a £60 fine for having window tint on his front side windows!!! is this right? i always thought it was only a fine n made you take it off? doesnt seem very fair :evil:

the thing you got to bare in mind is the ones fitted to
front windows or the windscreen shall let 70% of light through :wink:

ya id herd of lads getn £30 fines and being made take the tint off, but 3 points is a bit harsh is it not?? like i got that 4 runing a red light n thats alot more dangerious than having window tint on!

at the end of the day... the law is the law... they may have been doing a crack down in the area... normally if your alright, ie not doing anything else wrong i would let you go with a warning, you need to pass the "attitude test" first. But if it was traffic, they are less tolerant or they may have been doing a crack down in your area.

Don't tint your front windows never wise...

The Old Bill, will always stop u and check other things as well, not really worth IMO.

3points thats bang out of order, i used to get done for tints all the time, and everytime i only got £30 fine and had a producer, which means i had a week to take them off and had to prove i taken them of to an mot'er or a police officer, but wot i did was take them off then the next day put them back on again once i got it all cleared with the cops, i actully got done again that same week lol £30 fine but never 3points, and i put them back on again, hope this helps, ur friend can appeal btw!

Ensure the Front Tints comply with the Law.
contest the 3points/fine.
Take it to court, have the windows tested, windows pass = Police officers owned.

I Hate to sound a twat, but why have them done if its Illegal your bound to get stopped one day ??

maybe its a new crackdown, i certainly no im area South Yorkshire, theres Traffic cops everywhere and all they do is carry a tester for sunlight and im sure ive heard the law has changed, dont quote me though.

Someone i know told me his mate has been tinting windows for 10 years and he said no window tint will pass a test on the front, not even the light ones, DO NOT TINT YOUR FRONT WINDOWS. Simple as.
