Spent most of today jsut sorting a few things out. Tidying up the wiring after the gearbox went in, a new feed for the stereo, strip back seats, give it a bit of a clean in engine bay etc.....

clean16v
15-06-2005, 21:25
yup! still waiting for full re-spray in white, keeping it original looking, i'm leaving the bulge carbon though. engine bay detailing, getting rid of rsut, shiny bits etc, maybe some silicone hosing.
And of course the seats coming out! This is just the beginning!

dunno about that mate, dipping into the 13's will do for my first outing, not going mad with the stripping and its not easy getting the power down!

Martin

i want my engine to have next to no movement, can that be done with these group N thingy's Ben, or is that mount not used, as if not i'll get 2 of the night and day mounts for each side

Mark_Ritchspeed
15-06-2005, 23:27

If you are not going to change heat shield; at least take it out and staple the edges back into shape. It's a 5 mins job.

Winston

Such a rally slag lol....The brake dust adds to the overall effect

My guess a 13.6@100mph

more striping is needed

Get the inside sprayed.....you've got the bug  :P

whats with that poor terminal Wintson?
Wheels dont need cleaning til the rest of the car is sprayed up! Need it to carry on looking like a dirty slag!
It's back on song again after messing about with manifolds and the lambda sensor, it feels like its good for 13's easy now, just need to practice those launches!

Looks nice mate. My heat shield is worse than that lol. Anybody know where to get them from. Renault said they are £50

KingStromba
16-06-2005, 12:33
Yeah heat shields are the most expensive bits of foil ive ever bought.

Andyvalver
16-06-2005, 12:51
Do you know anywhere to get one from cheaper other than Renault.

KingStromba
16-06-2005, 12:53
If eurocarparts or gsf dont do them, then i guess make one yourself.

I've got a nice shiny new one

J o n
16-06-2005, 13:01
Think Ktec do a kevlar/carbon one of some kind, failing that I was told that you can use one off something like the Scenic (cant remember which Reno, may or may not be the scenic) and it's actually bigger and goes further round... Clean16v may remember, as we were speaking to our local Reno specialist about them... failing that all you need is some fire proof material like Clean was using before and just cut some holes and bolt it on... could save 30 grams or so on weight too

shiny heatshields are for soft southerners.
The heatshield that you are tealking about jon comes from the Clio diesel i think, Mike couldn't remember himself. I think i may just make one myself though, can't be that hard?

Andyvalver
16-06-2005, 13:05
Lol cool. Dont fancy payin £50 for tin foil.

J o n
16-06-2005, 13:12
Mehdi, I think making one would be the best idea and easy as hell to do. you just need something that you can shape right and wrap it in that material you were using before

Wicked car mate 8)

Must say though, something like that is crying out for some bucket seats... :P

J o n
16-06-2005, 13:57
i dnot think it will be too long before we see bucket seats... although with the power of this car is it really worth it? you can run full interior and hammer pretty much everything on the road with this car as is... plus, leathers are in MINT condition... I mean MINT too... would be an awful waste of a good interior!

Just staple the loose heat-shield edges with plain stationery staples. I put about a dozen staples into mine and hasn't come loose for months.

rally design sell heat reflective material etc thats my plan rather than spend £50.. i'll make something which covers all the brake lines ect...i appiled heat reflective tape over my brake lines.. but also will utilise heat reflective padding from raly design... they sell batery boxes for £15 which caught my eye :-)
