'the Williams used a larger 150bhp 2.0-litre engine, in place of the 137bhp 1.9-litre'.... news to me!
good read, thanks...1.9 indeed lol.

1.9 is probably a typo
Well, i can vouch for both the 1.6/1.9 gti and the clio 16v and williams as being "PROPER HOT HATCHES", non of this my cars faster than yours shit as with the rs turbo boys/ redtop nova's etc etc etc, time has proved that these cars are legends, where as the quick in a straight line cars aren't ( sorry turbo boys ) but a "proper car is one that can cover ground very quickly through both straights and "TWISTYS" IMO, thats why these cars are bench mark cars, there the bollocks!
ps.yet to give my verdict on my mi16 pug, as it just got insured today, but its rapid! :D

true, but what pf the r5 turbo? i found it to be risky in the corners...but it was always my favourite to boot around in
sorry, when i say turbo boys, i'm having digs at the rs turbo's in particular, had many a go against so called 200bhp plus escort rs's, and not one has impressed me, some 5's on the other hand have left me for shit!
i like the looks of them, but they certainly aren't my type of car

i know mate, just wondered where the r5 turbo fell in. for me its possibly my fae hot hatch of all time. certainly one of them. I do love the clio - but i just miss turbo thrills - the power delivery was great.
its interesting you say all this all i was contemplating a fiesta rs turbo (would never have an escort). I drove my mates, and although it was quick in a straight line , and felt well built, and came with a few extras...I didnt fell like I was anything special. To be honest also, it felt a bit chavvy. was quick in a straight line tho, but the torque steer was frightening. I still wouldn't mind a mint white one though.
