Ive had a search, but loads of stuff comes up, from oil coolers to people selling cars and saying theyve just changed the oil!

My car is due an oil change soon. at work we use 10w40 and 5w30. I know the correct oil is 5w40, but will either of the other 2 damage it? It seems to of had castrol magnatec used in the past, which is 10w40 iirc?

I believe you can use 5w40, 10w40 or 15w40 according the handbook, dependant on the ambient temperature of the country you live in, but, as you say, 5w40 is a good choice for this country of ours with 18 degrees one day then snow the next lol

I wouldn't use 5w30 though, it'll be too thin when hot.

10w40 should be fine but may be a bit noisier on cold start up as it's thicker than a 5w40 so will take a little longer to circulate round.

And I wouldn't use magnatec as for some reason it makes them sound like a bag of nails, despite being 'correct' LoL

as above, of the 2 use 10W-40, dont use the 5W-30

and again, another vote to not use Magnatec

also didnt I hear somebody on here say its good to over fill them on the marker slightly? I know most people who have r5's often do this.
