Is it a straight fit ? do you have to mod anything ?

Also the 172 circlip mod is it worth doing at the same time ? if so what bits do you need and how is it done ?

not sure on the quaife item mate to be 100% honest but they need new bearings unless the box is new.

and i think all the uprated diff's are retained by bolts rather than the renault designed circlip as standard thats part of the upgrade.

I heard that you have to mod the shaft when fitting a gripper. I "think" you dont have to do that with the quaife.

Can you just buy the upgrade parts (bolted circlip), where could i get them from ?

they were fitted to all JC5's, so either from a scrap box, or likely Renault.

from what i know the gripper diff allows u to run the standard speedo cable.....

So my box (JC5 willy) will have the bolted circlip mod already ?

no it won't was only fitted to 182's...i think..

but as said think all l.s.d do away with the circlip retention i think.

try talking to bernie at c.p.s as he's had dealing with all types...

01582 840008 and let us know what he says...

no but the 1 8 2 has a bolt in circlip on the diff thats much more resilient to popping out

My JC5 Williams box, which was fitted two years ago, Renault recon. unit also has the bolted diff method. It must have been introduced as a running change on later boxes.

Hi Rod, I'm off working in Germany again on Sat for 5 weeks but I'll be round when I get home. I will bring your cat even though it's nearly MOT time again, doesn't time fly when one gets to our age
