Goodyear Eagle F1's. Just about the best all round tyre you can buy IMO. Are you still on 185/55 or have you already gone up to 195/50?

I am using 205/45/15 Toyo T1R's which are proving to be very good on the front. Stiffer sidewalls than the old T1S's as well.

What pressure are you running the front tyres at?

Would like Mark to try the PE2's.

Be interesting to see if he thinks they are as good as the F1's.

Mark, are your 205's better than your F1 195's?

In the dry they are definitely a little grippier, but not by a massive amount. Once they have worn down though the dry grip will be much improved. Still too much tread movement as they are so new.

I might see if I can jam some 215's on next time, as I think they'll go on the 7" Willy rims.

Didnt realise tread caused tyre movement. So what is the tread like on a 'well gripping' tyre?

Presumably the movement comes as the tread blocks flex under loading. Ergo the lower the tread block height the less flex you'll get.

F1s to answer the original question.

A good tread depth is about 1-2mm for optimium grip. When the tread is still so fresh, the blocks move about a lot causing them to overheat quicker and slide earlier.

Still theres only about 5mm left on the Toyos after about 500 miles of motoring. :D

if u can get a good price - go of Michein exalto pe 2's in a 185 55 R15.

Or if your not worried about being standard - the same tyre in a 195 55 R15
