A lotus Exige weighs 935kg and has 190bhp

0-60 is 4.7 seconds
0-100 is 12.9 seconds...

Now I'd bet a fair few hybrids in the world match those weight and bhp scores but I've never heard of a mk1 getting anywhere near that 60 time using 190bhp...

Power to weight is a great thing but when (on a mk1) does is become a waste?

Safe to say it would be a factor....you don't see any f1 cars shaped like a clio do you!

Im no expert but logically thinking id say aerodynamics make a huge difference.

If you think how low down those things are, maybe half the height of a 16v, certainly most of your average saloon car, that means half of the frontal drag on the car on acceleration.

Maybe the same as lying on your front in an 80mph headwind and feeling the difference standing up in an 80mph headwind!

I reckon ud feel the difference.

On those figures you have quoted then id say aero makes a huge difference.

aerodynamics, a wonderful thing.

Right I'm off to graft an exige's front bumber on the willy...

rwd will play a big part aswell as its pushing the wheels into the ground

Having engine sitting over fat grippy tyres also helps.

To 60, the aerodynamics wont play a massive part.

Its advantage is it has super grippy tyres and RWD, and probably a diff.

I know some of the rst boys take off their wipers etc to get more aerodynamic efficiency, i Believe the lexus is400? the 90's 4.0ltr v8 thing was one of the most aerodynamically efficient cars made, better than some ferrari's i was told, They certainly go well!
