Could do with some help!

Last night and this morning when slowing down to a junction the engine suddenly cut out, no power, throttle, etc, so had to restart the engine.

It did it twice last night and once this morning. Seems to happen only when the engine is cold?

Any ideas what it could be?

Gunked up throttle body, blocked up idle control valve would be my initial places to check.

its here where the red arrow is pointing and in the red circle if you can see it... it has 2 rubber pipes going into it and is a valve which helps to control the idle of the car. common fault to get clogged up, you will need to undo a couple of mounting screws but its a piece of piss mucka, take off the two rubber hoses and clean thoroughly with carb cleaner 8)

no worries... forgot to mention, there is an electrical plug that goes into it on the top, just unclip it before pulling off! haha

let us know how you get on, people recommend using a cotton bud and using it to move the actual valve inside to makesure the cleaner gets every where...

keep us posted

Happened to me a month ago, was about to dismantle the idle control valve shown in pic when noticed the wiring conector had lost its metal retaining clip and enthusiastic driving had loosened connector, only needed pushing home

The plugs can get quite brittle, so be a little gentle with the clip when you take it off.

When you put it back on, remember the arrow point towards the inlet manifold. Make sure you put any jubilee clips back on securely on the pipes too.
