it took a while, but ive finally got my car back.

2 things.

1. driving a mercedes diesel automatic estate makes driving the clio seem very very strange. especially that extra pedal!

2. ****ing hell. if anybody asks about engine mods, i would have to say that headwork and cams are well worth it. this is without a remap.

ive only done some urban driving, and will be giving it a small run to work tomorrow. i wont be thrashing it till im happy with the fluid levels.

big thanks to those who i have pm'ed for advice and a big up to stan.
the mechanic at my end was well impressed with the work.

cheers

dg

ps im loving the idle!

fasterthanjesus

cams and pulleys fitted. 225's

apd headwork. (stan)

full gasket set and disp cap plugs bolts oil change etc.

one slight note is that the cam seal was the wrong size, caused a bit of spillage when it was up on the ramp.

What's the estimated power on this setup Stan? (with and without remap).

Always good when you spend an extensive amount of money and you actually can use that and get smiles every mile :)

Quoting without a remap is pretty pointless, as it needs one to optimise the engine.
Depending on how good the map is, it will make a real 170-180bhp (obviously depends on initial engine condition also).

running like a dream this morning.

only thing is that the abs light is stuck on permenant. propably something or nothing. the brakes still work!

Ive got flow data from this head, i'll put some graphs up when ive tested a couple more heads next week (different specs).
This one shows gains of 16-17%.

Others who have posted results show 12-13%.

Fair enough, I wouldn't want to run an engine unoptimised either, but some people can't afford it all in one go.

170-180 is very nice figure though from a N/A engine like this. You certainly have some skills my boy!

Looking forward to the flow data (and him to get a remap, and realise the potential of the engine :D)

Would be nice to detail the work you did Stan (not asking for trade secrets here, just interested).

How much did all that set u back mate?

fasterthanjesus
29-02-2008, 18:16
how much?

600 for the cams and pulleys
60 for the lifters
60 for the gasket set
100 for oil seals dis cap spark plugs and sundries
500 for headwork and shipping
500 for fitting inc exhaust manifold repair, and timing.

i still think pound for pound you cant buy/own/maintain a better limited edition sports car.
