well seeing as my centre section and backbox have developed some small holes (dam you car-cancer!)

I see the opportunity to finally get an aftermarket system.
Can anyone recommend a make? i dont really want one thats crazy loud or one that that looks like a cruise missile launcher.

cheers

Hi,ive got a scorpion on my valver its straight through and a de-cat which is not that loud and looks good, plus it fits well with NO annoying knocks and i had a scorpion on my rs turbo i couldt fault it really.

mongoose is the best for performance imo, but with a decat its a little loud, not sure with the normal cat in place, should be sweet.

Magnex sound ok too, there are a few people with various set ups so see if they can upload sound clips or get along to a meet ;o)

A vote for magnex cat back here :)

Burbly on idle but pretty quiet when driving, until you give it the beans (when it's pretty deep and not chav and raspy). Little bit noisy at 70-90 but quietens down at 95 ;)

Also occasionally pops on gearchanges when going for it  even with the cat in place!

I'm not sure they're still made :( so you might have to ebay or hope someone on here has one.

Think I paid £150 for mine a while ago but I'm not sure what they go for now!

devil sounds nice matey.

saw this mongoose clip on youtube

sounds pretty nice, i like the raspy sound.

have found a mongoose cat back system on this site, cost's £210 including VAT. seems like a decent price. Does anyone know if the mongoose's are a good fit?

mongoose are perhaps the worst fitting exhausts out there... had problems on my willy, and my Evo... they dont really fit them at their factory anymore, they are simply jigged up and made on mass now.

thats not to say you cant sort them, i swapped out some new mounts and put some zip ties and it was as solid as a rock!

210GBP isnt bad, but i would wait a little as exhausts are always popping up on here for sale! get a bargain, check ebay too

I have a magnex and its ok. I have had to have mine welded twice and its only 4 yrs old.

I would want something a little quieter next time but had more of a howl up the rev's.

If such a one exists.

i use to have a scorpion system, was fairly quiet and sounded more raspy then anything but fitment was pants and knocked all the time

i now have a mongoose system which fits perfect, doesnt knock etc and sounds great, louder then the scorpion but my car is also fully stripped with no sound proofing at all!

cheers for all the replies guys.

Just another quick question...

obviously when i buy a cat back system, i'm assuming that the backbox and centre section will be separate as in not one pipe?
I'm having an argument with a mate who reckons it will come as 1 pipe where i think it'll come as the centre section and backbox.

any idea's?

I'm having my new exhaust fitted today :D

In the end i opted for a mongoose cat back system, From what i've heard and spoke to a few guys, they sound pretty sweet.

I'll let you guys know how it sounds tonight after i get it back.

right, slight isuue's with the exhaust :(

on the standard exhaust there is hanger/bracket on the centre section which attaches to a clip on the chassis, on the mongoose there isnt anything. Is there supposed to be one for here? Mongoose say there isnt and that they have never made one with a hanger there.

Also towards the back of the exhaust, there is a hanger that is wielded to the chassis for the standard exhaust and then a fixing which connects to this... the mongoose has the same hanger on it as the chassis so the two dont go together.
at the mo, my car is off the road and undrive-able

anyone else fitted a mongoose and had problems before?
any help would be great.

Im also in the market for an exhaust, the k-tec system appealed to me as they do one they say is quiet anybody had experience or know about the system. The scorpion is my secod choice are they are both around the 260 pound mark.

Mongoose are awful fit.

why are they, mine fits perfect!

ian711,

the williams had a hanger on the centre section and 16v didnt, but i wouldnt worry about that one,

the hanger which is just before the axle on mine just fitted between the 2 and you have a rubber mount holding the mongoose from above and below then obviously the backbox hangers, mine fits perfect doesnt knock or anything where as the scorpion i had did nothing but knock and scrape, was rubbish!

btw my car is very low also so not alot of room over the axle!
