Hi guys

Need desperately some new HT leads for the williams

Are we still doing a group buy on any at the mo or if not where is the best place to get a set from?

eternalife
26-02-2008, 13:25
I am interested in getting some also if the price is the same as the last group buy.

drsmith1979 organised this the previous 2 times.
Link to original thread 8mm HT £22!!!: http://williamsclio.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=23635&highlight=leads&sid=12e97df9849f48beb7b8af381c6d7d16

Although, if not many people are interested could order direct from the company itself for £33.
http://www.performanceleads.co.uk/showdetails.asp?id=181

Did say in the group buy, needed 10 people - 8 more people needed now...
...and hopefully drsmith1979 would be kind enough to arrange again?

eternalife

If drsmith1979 is now in a different country - maybe we need a volunteer to get all info from him and organise?

In the link to previous Group buy the Name Warren was mentioned.

following on from Eternal lifes pm, i will speak with Warren to see what price we can get and what numbers we need... its usually a minimum of 10 orders to get the best price.

The best way to do it is to have 1 person nominated for delivery, have all the leads delivered there in 1 box, then they subsequently ship them on to individual addresses. Warren's company charges 5.95 for direct shipping per set so getting them all delivered to one person then shipped out again is cheaper and can be quicker as my first group buy testified.

I know prices have increased on the website from the original group buys but i will email him as soon as hotmail is back on line and see what the craic is......

will need 10 though to make it worth his while.

Reading through the previous group buy - there was a 3 week lead time (it was a busy period though).

Although, you can order direct as per the link I gave above.

Have posted this up on C16V forum also. A few people expressing interest. I do not think it will be very difficult in getting the required 10 persons.

Drsmith1979
In light of no one else coming forward, I will nominate myself as the designated person for the bulk delivery and then ship-out to the individuals accordingly.

From the previous group buy the HT leads were supplied as follows:
Red (8mm)
Blue (8mm)
Black (7mm)

Yes the numbers are there (also other people on c16v wanting them).

drsmith1979 will let us know once he has spoken to his contact at the company and we will go from there.

ok guys good news and bad news:

Bad news first:

Warren no longer works for the company!

Good news:

The people taking over are aware of my previous group buys are willing to do a deal. I am waiting feedback on pricing and delivery and whether it includes VAT etc....

i will respond ASAP.

With regards to colours, i will double check to see what they have in, i think last time i checked for GazTwo for yellow they had none left and would need to buy 1000yards of cable just to do one haha but i will let you know as soon as i know.

The initial prices quoted were 25GBP + 5.95 shipping, i am not sure if this includes VAT so i am checking as well as colours and also if we can get them all bulk shipped to one of your houses so they can ship them out to save even more.

number1
27-02-2008, 21:19
Whats involved with this bulk shipping idea? i believe they are made in bodmin, which isnt too far from me, if my postage costs were covered id be happy to ship them out to all the lovely people on here!

Dave

drsmith1979
27-02-2008, 21:27
well i did it on the first group buy, all the leads are shipped to one address based on a maximum weight cost, i think it was 10GBP next day shipping. i received them, bought some medium jiffy envelopes and posted out, it cost around 2.50 for materials and postage... but this was the old postage rules... saves another few quid, whichby all means isn't a massive amount, but if you can save 3-4GBP on every purchase you make it soon mounts up, that was my view anyway.

Everyone rings up and pays individually, i or someone in charge gives them eveyones forum name and real name, they ring up and pay, then once all payment is taken, they are made and shipped to one address.. then shipped out singley upon receipt. thats the theory anyway.

number1
27-02-2008, 21:34
Well i wouldnt mind posting them out, just as long as my costs for postage were covered, not sure how tho... lol

You could always buy from the company direct (i.e. not in the group buy). They are still substantially cheaper than anywhere else.

eternalife
27-02-2008, 22:06
Good going there Drsmith.

Number1 - I doubt its worth posting in bulk then individually as new postage terms have come about.

drsmith1979
28-02-2008, 00:32
well a general concensus needs to be reached, im still waiting to hear back on the issues highlighted above, but if people are willing to pay the 5.95 individual postage then thats fine, if the price quoted includes VAT then 30.95GBP posted is cheaper than original and they are made from the same stuff that luminition are made from.... because they make them! haha along with a number of other high profile brands, so they are top notch.. i was very impressed with mine as were everybody else.

Is someone going to volunteer for the group buy organisation? i dont mind helping out but running a business on another continent 8hrs behind you guys is kinda hard by itself! haha

If a set of these fits a valver (I'm assuming so  ) then I'd be interested in an 8mm Blue set :)

Even with individual postage on top, looks like they will be good value!

They fit a valver. I am also in for a blue 8mm set.

drsmith1979 - Many thanks for your help.
I will be willing to organise it all although my personal preferece is to have all leads shipped direct. For the sake of a couple quid its hassle and responsibility free.

If you want to, PM me the details and we can take it from there. There are persons on C16V wanting the HT leads also, so if i do organise the 'group buy' (or whoever else does) be sure to include them.

Price and colour confirmation seems the most important thing at the moment.

ok dudes, i have received one email from them this morning and this is what i have confirmed thus far:

the price is 25GBP including VAT, which is a great price + the 5.95GBP additional individual postage as it seems that this is the way people want to go.

I am awaiting confirmation on colours so will post it up ASAP.

here is the latest reply:

Dear David,

Colours:

In 8mm dia. we have blue and red as before; we also have 8mm in yellow, but it does not have the Ferroflex high performance core. It has a standard resistive core so it is up to your members. We also have 8mm 'day glow' green but again with a standard resistive core.

We still have 7mm dia. in black with the Ferroflex core.

Direct postage is no problem, as long as we have all 10 orders and can manufacture in one go.

We trust this is of assistance.

Kind regards

So please take some time to digest what they offer and make an informed choice as to what you want.

I had the standard leads on an my old 16v. Then I moved to the 8mm Magnecors. The difference was noticable as the car would feel more responsive. Although this could simply be the fact that they were new.

I have read in the past the 'performance across the lifetime of the leads' is where the increased diameter and less restrictive core helps.

Ok speaking with Eternal life we need to get a 'confirmed' list and people willing to pay the full cost including shipping within the next 14days, pref earlier. As with all group buys things crop up, money issues etc... so we need people willing to committ and not pull out.... please put your name on the CONFIRMED LIST if you are ready to buy ASAP:
