Just wondering, but how much can a roof skin without a sunroof be picked up for?

& how easy/difficult are they to fit - what is required?

Damn sunroof creases are pissing me off, & fed up of seeing them wobble every time i close the door!!!

Cheers,

Al

Roof skins arnt easy to fit ... they will be more than likely spot welded on.

When attempting to remove one off a scrappy you will probly crease the one your trying to get off!

Theres a place you can get Carbon roof skins ... a lad on clio16valver has just bought one!

Tempting!!! Very tempting!

Well i imagine it's both front and back screens out, sunroof and all interior on roof out, rails on roof out.

How would the carbon one fit? Bonded?

Yeah the carbon one would have to be bonded as it wont weld.

Use a combination of Pop Rivets, and sikoflex.

The lad who had it over on clio16valver is called Beanie.

However Clio16valver is currently down at the moment due to server repairs.

Thing is ... you will need to get a clio rooflining that doesnt have a sunroof hole in! :?

Does the carbon not replace the roof skin?

Seems a bit pointless if you have to have the orignal skin as well - not exactly much weight saved!!!

Yeah, Beanie said he bought it to save weight, along with the carbon bonnet and the fiberglass tailgate.

As long as the skin is bonded in and riveted in place it will be structuraly safe! :)

cutting the roof seems a bit stupid to me... surly you can see it offers some sort of strength to the car, as thats why it bubbles at the corners of the sunroof when you have a strutbrace on.

I cant see silkaflex and rivits doing a good enough job to put the strength back... also whos to say when you cut it the car doesnt bent in a little before you put it back without knowing.

Cutting a skin off to replace carbon is a stupid idea. its a structual part of the car and i doubt the carbon onw will be lighter.

If its for looks get a skin from the scrappi and bond it on. save you allot of time and effort.
