second gear rolling start, he gave up as i reached for third.
4th gear rolling start, he gave up as i reached for 5th.
Standing start, considering it was my second ever launch in the car and he has 4WD he jumped a car length ahead but i started to reel him in by the end of second. He tells me he got a shit start though so will have to go up against him again. Expected to beat him but looked more comfortable then i thought. Now to get on the stripping in prep for York!

New gearbox is, well its brand new, but doesn't feel as smooth as i expected but its guarenteed so we will see. Car feels awesome on te roads, i think on tight twisty roads the Nana may have the advantage because the manual steering conversion on this has made it a ball ache to corner in, long sweeping corners it jsut grips and go's though.
On the straights, its awesome. Mates now call it the time warp machine and everytime i get out my hands are shaking, its just ridiculous.
going for an extra mount on the gearbox, and need to uprate the other mounts, supersprint gets fitted 2moro and all should be good. just needs some minor tweaking on suspension to suit my driving style and it will be a right little monster!

it's expensive yeah, but it's a big step up either way... the problem is the rest of the engine (ie bottom end) is not yet matching the top half of the engine work... hopefully Mehdi will address the bottom end and get some forged pistons and a 9k rev limit :D

Can't wait to see the beast in action! :) I would love t/b's but it's just too much cash I think....for my wallet anyway. If a come into money though..

And brakes Mark, will be in touch ASAP, this gearbox has buggered my bank account.
Its all about what you think its worh at the end of the day, cams and map you can get done for under 1k, you'll see good gains, the next step is bodies, lord knows i've gone through enough Clio's to know there is no easy way. A lot of money for the engine sure, but no other Clio in N/A form will be as quick or sound as terrifying. It's just what you think it's worth!

Aye , once I've seen (and heard  ) yours go at York I might think again about putting somw pennies aside for t/b's!

how can some of you afford to run your cars? what is the petrol and running costs with t/b's? my std williams is expensive enough to keep and i drive 40 miles a day so i wouldnt like to think what some of urs is like.

the bodies use an interesting amount of fuel! it's not actually that bad, if you drive it gentle i'd expect 250-300 out of a full tank... Clean managed to 160+ish out of a full tank, but most of that was at 6k+ rpm which aint bad!

it will be at Warringot tonight, not quite 100% yet though so might be taking it easy(ish). Fuel consumption, well it depends how much you cane it, i reckon i can go through a full tank in less then 150 miles, but under 35% throttle or 4k its economy mapped so fuel consumption is excellent

150 miles...FULL TANK. FOOOOOOOOOOK THAT

150 miles...FULL TANK. FOOOOOOOOOOK THAT

When I had my cams running standard timing 2 weeks ago I was getting around 160 miles for a full tank

Haven't used a full tank since the timing yet, so I don't know f there is a difference

clean16v
13-06-2005, 16:12
yeah i wouldn't say 160 is that bad considering the hard time it was getting, as i said, if i behaved it would be no different to a normal Williams

Jamie.
13-06-2005, 16:17
prehaps i just drive like a grandad  lol

KingStromba
13-06-2005, 16:26
Im with you Jamie, i get 350 + miles to a tank

Martin
13-06-2005, 16:30
Hmm sounds like I'd only get about 60 miles flat stick in the nana! lol Does'nt sound too bad though prob only get 80 miles or so if I was hammering mine anyway...who gives a **** about mpg!

northy

i used to be able to do 400miles when standard and driven carefully...now it varies between 200 - 300 on average.
