yeah done it loads of times!

just take off 1 bolt either side with the bonnet up, makesure the bonnet stand rod is put into the slam panel as per usual, undo one of the last nuts and hold steady, the bonnet will balance with the aid of the bonnet stay rod and rest slightly on the bumper top. scoot around and undo the last nut making sure to brace the bonnet, then scoot around the front, disconnect the rod and life off. Et Voila!

What about the little cable that stops it going over too far? I don't want to cut it :(

Drill out the rivet holding it on.

Without a drill, hehe, cool.

Every step of my HG change is a shit job. Not even begun to do the major bits yet and I am a day and a half into it.

the rivet should be on the hinge not the bonnet itself?!?!

just have to take a step back when its getting a bit much, once its all done and you are enjoying it you will be glad you did it... just have to do it in manageable chunks!

I stand over it, hold it with one hand and undo the nuts with the other one, but then i'm a tall bastard

I think this is one of those times...I am in serious need of a few beers and a few decent women to occupy my troubled mind!

LoL

I've managed to get it off on my own before - much reaching round and turning the nuts (so to speak lol  )

Can't you just unbolt the slam panel rather than cut the cable though?

Yah to the pub :D

I got the bonnet off with some help from a mate. I wasn't thinking and cut the wire off in the end. I will out a new one on I guess :(

as ive already said, the wire is connected to the slam panel and the bonney hinge.... NOT the bonnet so it doesnt need to be removed lol

chin up lad, tomorrow is a new day

I always seperate the hinges now, saves snapping the studs off the bonnet and no hassles trying to line it back up, also easier to do on your own.

i just pop the grill off, then shut the bonnet(not locking it down) and undo the bolts with a 1/4 drive ratchet n 13mm socket, got a halfords pro one which fits perfect, then just lift bonnet off!

Yea me too cheers. Putting it back in is the reverse right? Does it line up easily enough?

Do yourself a favour when you put it back, use the grille trick (you probably already have the headlight adnd grille removed anyway right?).

Anyways here's how:

make sure grille is removed.

- place hinges in folded back position.
- lift bonnet and place over engine bay
- press down at back over locking/latch so its shut properly
- get your hand under through grille access and place the hinges over the studs
- now by hand put a nut on a stud each side, with bonnet still closed, finger tight will do
- open bonnet and put other nuts/tighten.

This way is also easier for making sure everything is lined up.

Not as easy as my way.
