I have always wonderd what the VISCOSITY :shock: (spelling) of oil is or what it means and how the different types affect the engine. . . .

if someone can be arsed to explain in 'english' it would be appreciated :D

i think the viscosity is the oils ability to flow, say a litre through a hole the size of a 5p, a 5w oil will flow faster than a 90w. think they get the rating, the time it takes to flow through a hole. say 10w 40, i think the 10w is the thinnest it can get but when cold, say in the winter, it will be 40w until it warms up. iam not saying this is correct but thats what ive allways been told.
