It may be nothing to worry about but here goes...

Im sure my fuel pump is getting nosier (im sure its is my fuel pump first of all)

I have a high pitch (not particularly loud) but like a buzzing/humming sound coming from somewhere.

Its similar to the RS Turbo noise on tickover - i believe they have a noisy fuel pumps? - my friend had one a few years back - does anyone have a clue what im on about!!?

Its also quite prominent when say 3rd gear real low on revs and you build them back up again, not hard build up just nice and gradual, id say between 800rpm and 1200rpm.

Im convinced its getting louder hence the post.

Do fuel pumps go knackered?!

Any advice appreciated

:?

fuel filter mate maybe staining the pump

Thats great cheers.

Will change that. Probably about 12months since put a new one on.

A friend of mine who used to be a renault technician and 16v owner said this should be replaced regularly as they block up easy!

Cheers Maxi, my limited mechanical knowledge didn't trigger that the filter may be causing!

Fuel filter shouldn't really have to be replaced very often at all?

I think most of them are pretty loud, mine was buzzing/whining/humming for 30k before it finally gave up. Pretty easy to change on a ph2 don't have to take the tank off unlike on the ph1s! Can get a motorsport upgrade pump from ebay for circa £90.

My fuel pump did that and it died 2 weeks after that. I`ve put in a 1.4rt fuel pump and so far it works fine. :)

Ph1 fuel pumps are much noiser compared to ph2 pumps aswell.
