Head Skimming

Anyone know a good place for gettign the head skimmed in my area? May consider polishing porting too...depends on cost...

For simple head skim then personally i'd take it to mikey@rentech in Portsmouth, he doesn't do the job himself but will subcontract it out to a local engineers.

As for head work, plenty of tuners on here you could choose from. I'd rather go with someone who's got a lot of recommendations.

Could be worth getting it pressure tested incase the head is damaged in any way.

You could save a few pennys ringing up some local engineering places in the yellow pages and see what there quoting.

Get the head checked first, as it may not have warped if it didnt over heat alot.

mikey said he uses boarhunt who charge him 25quid plus vat (trade rate i guess). They'll need it for a couple of days and that includes a clean and skim.

Thanks! I think I have found a couple of places, one wanted to competely overhaul the head for £160 plus parts and VAT (think that included polishing etc) and the other wanted about £75 but they collect and deliver. Don't fancy walking miles with half an engine under my arm!
