Renault F engine "inside"

This engine was planned by me last year. My homework was to plan an F7R based 1800ccm engine with so high power and torque and so low specific fuel consumption as possible. The crankshaft, pistons, rods, flywheel (and pulleys, camshafts, valves, valvesprings) were drawn in Solid Edge (other parts in AutoCAD). Yesterday I was bored and made an animation.

Technical data:
Displacement: 1794 ccm
Bore x Stroke: 82.7 x 83,5 mm (F7R bore x F7P stroke http://smileys.sur-la-toile.com/repository/Cligne/clinoeil-558.gif )
Theoretical max power: 103,5 kW / 141 HP @ 6100 rpm
Theoretical max torque: 162 Nm @ 4800 rpm
Specific fuel consumption: 283,7 g/kWh

(unfortunately there is a problem with the animation, when the engine is starting an undesirable frame appears, I could not hide it noways :( )

nice animation but i cant see the point tbh .
renault allready managed to get 137bhp
and 158nm torque out of this engine in 1.8 form
unless you are getting half the fuel consumption i cant see a point :roll:

The power, torque and every other engineparameter was calculated by an engine simulator (developed by Budapest University of Technology and Economics - Department of Automobiles). These values are theoretical ones.
F7P's compression ratio is 10:1. This engine has 11:1, a higher compression ratio can increase the effectiveness (and power / torque) of the engine. Naturally this difference is not so much but it has effect. The planned head is similar but not the same as F7P's, larger inlet and exhaust valves / flow optimised manifold and so on.
Everything is theoretical (the engine will be never built) and to tell the truth I don't think it will be able to produce this power / torque / consumption parameters :). The main goal of this homework was to get experience in engineplanning. :wink:

It's interesting to see that renault already had about the same out of the F7R as you've worked out for a good engine :)

And I'm also amazed that the F 7 engines are so reliable - usually a higher power unit will go bang, especially after modifications are added, but we rarely hear about an engine going bang in spectacular style, like a ford would lol
