I've tried a forum search, but the words 'car' and 'cover' crop up quite a bit and not in the mood for thinkin laterally

Right basically i have a dodgy halfrauds one size doesnt fit anything car cover and after just over 2 years of use its pretty much ****ed, the material is no longer breathing right and becoming waterlogged.

this is resulting in water pissing through it and flooding my car (perspex and sunroof  ) and when it does stop raining its not drying properly, as such the material is rotting and starting to tear all over, only small rips atm but it wont last!

so as i dont have a garage i'm after recommendations for prices to pay and places to try to get a decent, breatheable, waterproof, fully tailored (or at least one that someone can tell me fits spot on) cover for my mk 1 clio.

tbh am not fussed on price so long as its good quality and likely to last a while and keep my car scratch free and dry!

cheers everyone

My Halfords Tyvek cover has been spot on for the last 2 years, does leave one or 2 marks on the bonnet when used but easily wipe off. It's a good fit too and keeps the car bone dry which is the main thing! There's a fella down the road with a Ferrari 308 who uses the same type of cover so can't be that bad!

I have been looking for one too, for outside use. The problem for me is it needs to have a transparent section for the tax deisc and parking permit, as the wardens where I live will ticket anything on the side of the road thats not breathing or displaying a permit. Are there any of these about or can you tailor make them somewhere for this requirement?

Surely if they can't see your plate they can't ticket it? ;)

There was a rule that they couldn't touch the car to identify it (hence people were parking scooters on the pavement and covering the number plates and tax disc with a plastic bag, which the little hitlers then couldn't remove) but I'm not sure that rule is still in force...

Well, I know for sure they would ticket me anyway, and then spend months harassing me, regardless of whether I am in the right or not!

Had a 3 year battle against my Council (still ongoing) about the £25k's worth of fines they gave me for parking my car outside my house...

I have an RAC one, they come in 3 sizes and i got mine in a special offer from argos, i got a medium one and have it on my crash damaged clio cup while it was repaired, i now use it on my williams when i am away, it is semi breathable and fits snuggly around the car and under the bumpers, perfect size and was cheap too!

i work in a bag factory and could get a bag that a clio fits in perfect made up, ive made them for vauxhall carltons, and an RS turbo and they fit excellent and just need sellotaping up, can probably get them for £5 - £8 each but its the delivery that will cost as its very heavy material

It is a very good fit and has tie straps so doesn't come off in strong winds. I only use the cover in the week and drive the car at weekends so it's never on for long periods of time but I'm sure it would be ok.

I'll try and get some pics at the weekend mate and post them up.

Hmm I have been thinking of taking my car off the road for a while as buying a house n need to save a little cash so may get one of these.

Am just wandering if the WeatherShield one be overkill. Is the Noah adequate for our lovely weather? Have just asked for a quote for both.

Cheers

Ahmed Bayjoo

personally i dont think anything is overkill, but you got to offset it with what your willing to pay.

i really like the noah, very light , very maneagable to put on, and like i said had it nearly 2 years and absoulutely no complaint.

ive known friends who have bought cheaper ones that have ripped or not been that good , and in the end , ended up paying twice.

which is the main reason i thought id look for a better quality item.
