Yesterday i noticed engaging reverse was a little stiffer than usual but today its definately worse...really have to stamp on the pedal and kind of 'feel' it into place. All ather gears are slick as normal though.

Any thought on what this could be?

I was going to change the oil but if all other gears are fine then that wouldn't really be it would it?

This is on my RT btw. Its done 80 odd-k and i've done nothing since getting it except plugs/leads/lowering so don't have a clue about when it was last touched.

clutch release plate, is it worse when its warm? as tends to show up in reverse initially then other gears will get harder to find

Other thing is the oil level, always look at the free/cheap things first

I'm not sure...the car about 3 miles a day to my work so never gets up to temperature! I'm heading into town tomorrow so will be able to check then though.

I take it the release plate means box off?

check see if the exhaust is fouling the gear linkage

not totally off, same as clutch change, undo it and slip it to the side

Nah i know that trick about slowing the flywheel mate.

Gave it a good thrash into town so it got up to temperature...theres definately a problem as it happens when hot and it took two hands to get it into reverse a fdew minutes ago.

Exhaust wise it has sagged a bit as its rattling ever so slightly on the beam...unfortunately i can get it seen to today...but that shouldn't cause that amount of stiffness (if it was rattling on the gear linkage).

I'm thinking the worst...

Deffintaley the Pressure Plate, I can more or less garantuee you that it is the pressure Plate fingers, what tends to happen is the Fingers get Worn and brittle, which in turn makes it more or less impossible to get it into gear when the car is up to temp.

Damn it.

Will need to bring the 16v swap forward i think...or get on the weight to move it backwards...
