Gear knob fitting

Not for me but a mate has an aftermarket gearknob to fit to his megane (same as the clio for the gear knob) but wasn't sure on fitting. When you remove the top part of the gear knob there is another plastic part underneath - should that twist off or does it need cut off?

Also, underneath that is it threaded to allow a new one to be screwed on?

Twist and pull it off hard.

There is a knurl section underneath to help it "grip", put some glue on it and put new gearnob on and your good to go.
