ronsvalver came round last night and we found at the squeel in MKR is coming from the fusebox! knew the gearbox felt too good for it to be on its way out!

it's a squeel that changed based on revs (resonating)

I've taken all the relays out except for the wiper relay, cause I don't know where it is :(

thats what it sounds like

Sorry but LMGDAO - it sounds like one of those party streamer things :P

Have you got your head behind the dash with a torch whilst someone revs it to see if there's anything obvious?

It's a very strange noise though

ive tried myself, but cannot see anything :?

really don't want to start taking the dash apart

You've not got one of those eBay electric superchargers fitted do you :P

It sounds like air resonating to me - Can you feel anything from the heater matrix assembly when it's making the noise... does the dash feel loose and has it been removed recently?

Not tried the heater matrix - can u reach it without taking the dash apart?

Dash is fine, hasnt been taken apart (ever I think? doesnt even rattle!)

I don't think you'll be able to get your hands to the matrix itself as it's in the blower box assembly but if the matrix is at fault you should be able to feel the pipes vibrating as the noise occurs.

Has anything been done to the car prior to the noise occuring?

leave it as it is
iys like a party in your car lol

LMFAO thats just a stupid noise

lmao that noise is hilarious!!

my guess (and it is a guess) is that the heater pipework that runs behind the dash and to the passenger vent has a small hole/split in it

only because i cant think of anything else that would cause it

have yout tried it with all your blowers turned to the various positions and fan on at varying speeds? could be an air leak in the blowing channels or something trapped in it causing it to force past and resonate

Matty86

yep, have had the blowers on all sorts thanks to the weather

the noise came from nowhere really, i was at the end of a 200 mile trip and it just appeared

It's not loosing any coolant

lol thats funny as ****, never thought to take a recording of it before.

you'll notice it comes and goes depending on weather conditions as well. i never really found the fault, but im sure its the heater matrix. although im more inclined to think its on the water side rather than the air side, because it relates to revs (water pump spinning faster) and closing air vents and having the fan/temp set differently doesn't affect it.

I was going to suggest a small mouse trapped behind that dash that is particularly scared of exhaust noise....

/I'll get me coat.

should i try replacing/bleeding the coolant

or new matrix? :?

My valver used to make this noise. Novelty noise it is to lol.
Then giving it a good rebleed sorted it out.
Then when i rebled it not as well another time it came back
So best bet would be to try flushing the system and bleeding it well to see if it helps.

thinking about it since my williams has been rebuilt/bled i've not had the problem reoccur with it (touch wood). However on my old RT no matter what i did/rebleed etc it was always there, so i certainly think a rebleed is worth it, if that fails then heater matrix.
