OK, my new lug nuts have now arrived and I know what lengths of studs I can accommodate. Anyone know the best place to buy M12 x 1.5 screw in studs so that I can convert my hubs?

Thanks

Cheers guys. cliokongen - the H&R ones look just like the kind of thing I am after, but on their site I couldn't find any way of actually ordering them. Do you know any retailers for those studs in the UK, or a website I could buy them on, etc.?

Cheers

why would you want to do this, whats wrong with bolts?

Cheers maxiboy. I've got the nuts already and doing a search on those Grayston ones in your link I've found somewhere flogging them for 99p each, so think I'll go with them!

Nothing much wrong with bolts. It's just that I'll be swapping the wheels quite a lot (it's a track/hillclimb car) and I find studs easier for wheel location. Plus I'm expecting a slight saving in unsprung weight, as my new nuts are under 25g each!

I'm getting these :-)

The studs go through them. (and they look good)

For H&R bolts - look at page 2 in the link.

Come in several different lenghts (if you plan on using spacers)

For the nuts speak to fred from yozza sport, thats the same company he uses to do his wheel refurbs

Can you spot the williams wheel, the ones of you on the ball will spot the kawasaki green ones he had on his car a while back too

Cheers all. Studs arrived today so conversion now complete. Dead simple, just screw them in with a bit of threadlock and job done.

No probs! I didn't fancy paying 2 quid each at Tweeks but found them at Larkspeed in the end for 99p, which I thought was alright, although I'm sure you could save a bit more somewhere else. They came next day though so the service was great.

I went for these ones, the 60mm M12 x 1.5

http://www.larkspeed.com/index.pl?p=361SS13&a=i

I worked out I needed about 40mm of thread on the wheel side to have enough to bolt onto, so ordered the 40mm ones after they told me the measurement was the wheel side thread part, but luckily someone else there realised that was the wrong measurement and called me back to say that 40mm was the total length of the stud, so I swapped to the 60mm ones. There is about 15mm that screws into the hub, a non threaded part of about 7mm as a 'stop' and then about 38mm of thread on the wheel side on the ones I have. Depending on your wheels, and whether you have spacers, you might need them slightly longer as there isn't that much to play with on the ones I have.
