Bell are good, in there terms and conditions it states that if you dont decalre mods your insurance wont be invalidated. However the parts that are modifed will only be replaced with standard parts if anything were to happen. Worth a try if its modded :)

it is crazy how much people are quoting me... I was insured on the RSi at 18 under my mums name, i only paid like £1000 fully comp. Been driving for a year more, using as a second car and doing about 4k a year and they still wont insure me!!! ARGH!

09-01-2008, 10:52
WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Bell just quoted me £1200 fully comp, me main driver, mum n dad named!!

Thats pretty sweet, I dont know whether I should just whack it under my mums name, as I will only ever use it on sundays/week nights!! hmm

£1400? its mad when you think what we all pay or used to pay for our cars!

I was only paying £440 fully comp on my Evo with all mods declared! couldn't bring myself to pay anything close to £1000 for insurance ever again lol

I'm still paying about £600 on the valver and I'm ollllld :( with plenty of NCB.

Oh, and a few points... LoL

HIC were good for me - Chaucer were the people they quoted from :)

cheers for all your help lads! Just need to find myself a valver base and Hybrid time! LOL

Elephant and bell are sister companies so quotes will be very similar for the 2 companies. Some of you lot should think yourselves lucky- i still pay £1000 on a valver at 21 with 4 years no claims and mum as named driver with elephant (by far the cheapest).

The best bit- thats tpft  Inner city manchester and being in the motor trade are a killer, move round the corner to a borough of Rochdale and price plummets! fully comp is a long way off for me

Buy a little shack in a better area and register the car to it :D

Bell were cheap for me, but they makes their big savings if you pay in full straight away rather than doing it by DD each month. Mine was about £450/year, but coz of DD charges and some other bits it's now about £570 which is high for me as I've been driving 15 years, no accidents or (remaining ;) ) convictions, no NCB though.

Next time I'll pay in full and it will only be about £400 I think.

I got the best quotes by far from bell and elephant when I got the hybrid at 19. I tried flux and HIC but they came nowhere near what bell or elephant could offer.

plus elephant, admiral and bell (all sister companies)all do the 10 month schemes.

Personally I would steer clear of the 10 month schemes and stick to the 12 month ones as many companies won't accept 10 month schemes for NCD and you end up having to stay with elephant or one of their sister companies.

never had a problem, letter comes through as 1 years ncd.

Fair enough, I know of a couple of people who have had problems but maybe its not always the case.

DaveH
11-01-2008, 20:34
Most companies just honour the ncd as the letter only says 1 years ncd not 10 month 1 year ncd.

I was a bit dubious when after my first years insurance with liverpool victoria they gave me a year free so after 1 year of driving i had 2 years ncd. I thought nobody would accept it wondering why ive been driving for 4 years with 5 years ncd but theyve always honoured it because i have it in writing!

I had a Williams at 19 with 1 NCB (it was a 10 month fast track one from elephant- accepted no problem) that cost £938 a year fully comp. I think being up in scotland makes a great difference to most quotes :muahaha:
