Today I was bored and I decided to rip apart my ECU. Previous owner told me the car was chipped and I was curious what type of chip is inside.
Chip has a white unprinted sticker on top. But when I got the chip out of it's socket and turned it around on the bottom of the chip is written 205 1.9 GTI. Is this just mislabeling or is this another chapter in weird tuning approach this engine was subjected to? :D

Arrrgh. No EDIT button!!!

I just can't imagine how would it be possible to fit GTI chip in Williams ECU and make it work. And it did work ok.

prob an old chip someone has originally had on a gti, then simply rewritten and popped in the willy... i wouldnt worry about it

if the car ran on the chip it cant of been completely wrong, otherwise wud of run like an absolute dog!

as said, chips are flash rom and often re-flashable so probs been used in the pug then re-used, no worries

sure you dont own a pug lol ;)

joking, yeah the chips are just eproms so you can write what ever on them and reuse, doesnt even have to be used in a car

Definetly wouldnt of worked if it was a pug chip

The 205 runs an airflow meter while the williams and valvers use a map sensor

2 very different ways of calculating air volume

so no worrys
