i'm struggling for time mate, i'm out on site from 7am till 6pm.

Will see what i can do, no point in asking tweeks tho, they are already a tenner more than rally design, need to find a cheap supplier first. Could do with someone with more time than me to sort it

Wasn't the bloke's name john harris????

What i got told was each operative runs it like their own business and get commission on parts sold, so its up to the one particular bloke how much discount he gives and on what

MAXIBOY
31-12-2007, 11:36
yeah john harries but if you seen it cheaper elsewhere always ask about discount.

no but i have been looking at getting one, and a box to suit

Richy you dont need a box as its a gel battery, another good reason to buy one.

Not sure whether there is a big difference in cost but my mates 205 rally car uses a redtop 20 with no probems

tbh it was more just to protect the battery when im carrying wheels/tools to trackdays

hi there

do you need to fir this simply the battery and a feed from where the original battery was in the engine bay to the rear. (want to fit it in rear of car or maybe in footwell as i only have one seat?

Can you buy little cages for them to hold them in place securely.?

MAXIBOY
31-12-2007, 14:48
yes little cages from ebay

and just extend the live cable, earth the old earth cable and add a new earth from the battery to the chassis/bodywork.

Just a little snippet of advice you all may find useful, before buying one of these batteries   From my experience, and advice from the guys in the "AUTOTEK WRC RALLY " team.Whilst these batteries do every thing they say on the box   but are very fickle .They do tend to lose their charge very quickly if the car is not used regularly. To this end the Autotek guys advised me to keep mine on "trickle" charge, between events,as once they drain, they become very inefficient, and struggle to keep charge.I have a red top 40 and a spare ~~ constantly on charge ~~just in case ~~~ It would be a disaster to end an event with a flat battery.
Another tip,if the track day lads are using hi~compression engines, It is advisable to start with an independent battery using an "ANDERSON" type socket and cable arrangement, especially when the engine is hot   I start mine first time every day (Rally car when I use it)using this method, moreso in the colder weather.A bit like race cars etc.
