today i came to clean my wheels and realised they were covered in grease on the inside

took the wheel off to find the larger cv boot tie was loose and grease had crept out of it

pulled it back and filled it with some more grease, and currently its secured with a cable tie, its on as tight as i could get it on, and ive tried it lock to lock and it doesnt seem to be going anywhere

is the cable tie likely to fail, is it a bodge fix ?......i know some cv boots that you buy do only come with cable ties

Cable ties are the most common method of securing them, never really under any load

Thing is with metal there is a risk of wearing through the boot and causing even more problems

aye use plastic zip ties but the thick ones not the thin ones.

Pull the cable tie stupid tight with a pair of pliers, mine came loose and i got grease in my wheel and secured it with a cable tie and its been spot on ever since

all i could get hold of on a Sunday was more cable ties, so ive put 2 smaller ones on instead of the big one i had on, they are more flexible so hopefully will be better

i thought about a jubilee but wasnt sure if it would be ok
